Dominique Ghesquiere’s work provides an invitation to slow down our observations and judgements to the advantage of doubt. As Dominique says, “we know that time makes off and disappears if we do not take care of it … Existential time is a thinking time. [This] is what I am concerned with: a thinking time based upon my surrounding landscape.”

Dominique remakes everyday objects, for example, bricks, scaffolding, newspapers, from inadequate materials that question and puzzle our pretence to both see and understand simultaneously. She also modifies objects that already exist such as branches or magazines. The materials used always remain central and very important in her work.
'journaux', 2009 - Embroidered fabric: 50.5 x 65.2 cm
